The big game is ten days away, and the initial betting lines for Super Bowl LIX have barely moved since being posted after Conference Championship Sunday.
Opening lines favored the Kansas City Chiefs by 2 points over the Philadephia Eagles. In the four days that have followed, point spreads have moved half a point in Philly’s direction and now rests at a differential of 1.5.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles Betting Line
- Chiefs Point Spread: -1.5 (-107)
- Chiefs Moneyline: -121
- Eagles Point Spread: +1.5 (-103)
- Eagles Moneyline: +111
- Over: 49.0 (-106)
- Under: 49.0 (-104).
The Eagles entered the NFC Conference Championship Game against the Washington Commanders as the top-ranked team in the Super Bowl 59 futures.
Following Philadelphia’s impressive win, they somehow became Super Bowl underdogs.
If the Chiefs win Super Bowl LIX, they will become the first NFL franchise to win three Lombardi Trophies in a row. A win will also move Kansas City into a three-way tie for the second-most SB titles. The Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers are tied with five all-time SB wins.
With Patrick Mahomes under center, the Chiefs are likely to be relevant for many years to come. The New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers are tied for the all-time lead in Super Bowl wins with six, and it isn’t ridiculous to think that Mahomes could match or surpass that number.
How The Chiefs Can Win
The Chiefs’ offense lives and dies via the passing prowess of Patrick Mahomes. A consistent, turnover-free performance from Mahomes will spell doom for the Eagles in SB LIX.
Running backs Kareem Hunt and Isaiah Pacheco will need to produce when called upon, which isn’t an easy task when up against the Philly defense. If Mahomes is connecting on most passes, running lanes will begin to open up, but rushing against the Eagles early on could be a struggle.
Total Rushing Yards – Kareem Hunt (KC)
- Over 45.5 Yards -115
- Under 45.5 Yards -115
Super Bowl prop bets have set the over/under for Kareem Hunt at 45.5 yards on the ground. We like the over here.
How The Eagles Can Win
The Eagles’ offense features a fearsome rushing attack that will need to be established early. Philadelphia cannot afford to get cute on offense and suffer any early three-and-outs.
Running back Saquon Barkley and quarterback Jalen Hurts must successfully confuse the Chiefs’ front seven by using a mix of disguised option plays and play-action passes.
The duo of Barkley and Hurts is projected to rush for at least 153 yards combined.
Total Rushing Yards – Saquon Barkley (PHI)
- Over 112.5 Yards -115
- Under 112.5 Yards -115
Total Rushing Yards – Jalen Hurts (PHI)
- Over 40.5 Yards -120
- Under 40.5 Yards -110
On defense, Philly must contain the speedy Xavier Worthy, who had a big game against the Buffalo Bills. This may require an extra defensive back, which will put extra strain on the front line.
