The state of Louisiana has dropped the underage gambling and computer fraud charges against New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte.
In January of 2024, Boutte was arrested and charged with underage gambling and computer fraud after it was discovered he allegedly created a fake account and placed more than 8,900 bets. Boutte was accused of betting on the LSU Tigers while on the roster.
Boutte turned himself in once he was notified of the charges. He later posted a $6,000 bail and was released from the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. The NFL has stated that they will continue investigating Boutte, but he can continue practicing with the team now.
Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo told media sources that the team will wait to hear from the league before going forward.
NFL’s Gambling Policy
The NFL is notoriously known for being tough on gambling but has loosened up its stance in recent years.
Today, NFL players can bet on any non-NFL-related event. However, coaches, officials, and trainers are prohibited from betting on all sports. Players can also not access online sportsbook sites from a team or league facility or when traveling with the team.
There are also restrictions on fantasy sports, and each player’s contract includes rules about gambling. Several players have already broken the terms of their contracts and received indefinite suspensions of at least one year. Players who have seen this punishment include Calvin Ridley, Quintez Cephus, C.J. Moore, Josh Shaw, and Shaka Toney.
What Are The Best Online Football Betting Sites?
The best legal online football betting sites depend on the account holder. However, trusted sites have standard features, including trusted licensing, user-friendly banking options, security protocols, and an excellent player reputation.
All the sites we recommend hold legal licensing and have been servicing Americans since the early 2000s. Today, US players also have access to state-licensed sportsbooks, but only a handful of states allow those bets to take place over the web.
Is It Legal To Bet On NFL Football Online From USA?
Yes, there are no laws that make betting on the NFL, either in person or online, illegal. Therefore, USA players can choose how they prefer to bet and which outlet they would like to use.
Online sportsbooks often offer more banking options, bigger bonuses, and more betting options in addition to football. Our team prefers online sportsbook services for their convenience and crypto acceptance, but we will also bet in person if the conditions and the odds are right.
