The 2025 college football season will kick off week 0 (9/23/25), and the 2025 preseason Coaches’ Poll has just been released. Texas currently holds the top spot, sitting at number 1, while Ohio State is close behind at #2.
The poll signals which teams are expected to perform well, but also influences betting lines across conferences. For example, Clemson’s No. 6 ranking has solidified its status as the ACC favorite, while Miami’s top 10 placement has boosted its odds significantly. These rankings shape public perception, drive betting volume, and often create value opportunities for under-the-radar teams that fall just outside the top tier.
Historically, teams ranked in the top six of the preseason polls have had the best odds of finishing the season as national champions. However, college football is unpredictable, and the best stories come from “Cinderella” teams.
