After six weeks of play, the USFL North Division is struggling to produce a winning team. Heading into Week 6, all four teams had win-loss records of 2-3, and only one managed to scratch out a victory.
USFL North Division Standings
Philadelphia Stars 3-3
New Jersey Generals 2-4
Pittsburgh Maulers 2-4
Michigan Panthers 2-4
Week 7 of the 2023 USFL scheduled gets underway this Saturday in Birmingham, Alabama’s Protective Stadium, with kickoff at 4 PM,
Birmingham Stallions (4-2) @ New Orleans Breakers (4-2)
- Point Spread: Stallions -2.5, Breakers +2.5
- Money Line: Stallions -135, Breakers +115
- Over/Under: 46.0
The Birmingham Stallions, New Orleans Breakers, and Houston Gamblers all possess the best record in the USFL at 4-2, and they’re all in the USFL South Division.
This marquee matchup of USFL South teams guarantees that one of them climbs to 5-2, holding no less than a tie for the Division lead once all the Week 7 dust settles. USFL betting sites project a Stallions victory, favoring them by -2.5 points in the spread.
On Saturday at 9:00 PM, Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, hosts the best team in the North – the 3-2 Philadelphia Stars – against the Pittsburgh Maulers.
Philadelphia Stars (3-2) @ Pittsburgh Maulers (2-4)
- Point Spread: Stars +1.0, Maulers -1.0
- Money Line: Stars -105, Maulers -115
- Over/Under: 39.0
Pittsburgh is actually favored by a point “at home.” If this projection holds true and the Maulers win, it’ll send the division into further chaos by bringing the top team back down to the rest of the pack.
Because the USFL has a similar postseason format to that of the XFL Playoffs, no less than two teams will make it from each Division. The XFL ran into a similar issue this year when the Arlington Renegades made it to the playoffs with a record of 4-6.
Sunday at 2:30 PM, the Houston Gamblers and Memphis Showboats will matchup in Canton, OH.
Houston Gamblers (4-2) @ Memphis Showboats (3-3)
- Point Spread: Gamblers -3.5, Showboats +3.5
- Money Line: Gamblers -165, Showboats +140
- Over/Under: 43.0
The Gamblers hope to keep their top status in the USFL North and need the win in order to keep pace with the team that is victorious between the Stallions and Breakers.
Houston is favored by over a field goal. The Showboats also desperately need a win this week to avoid falling under .500 in a Division where all other teams have winning records.
The final Week 7 game will begin at 5:30 PM in Canton, where one team’s season will get some new life pumped into it, and another will be put on life support.
Michigan Panthers (2-4) @ New Jersey Generals (2-4)
- Point Spread: Panthers +7.0, Generals -7.0
- Money Line: Panthers +225, Generals -275
- Over/Under: 39.5
It is tough to rebound from a 2-5 start in professional football, and one of these USFL teams will definitively face that reality after Sunday’s game concludes.
Despite their similar record, the Generals are favored by a commanding 7 points in the spread. We suggest betting on the Panthers to cover at legal football sportsbooks, but we also believe that New Jersey will win the game.
